Peggy is getting around!!!

Peggy, short for Pegasus, my beloved Prius is sure getting around. In just over a month I've already put a thousand miles on her. Hopefully, once we move there will be a significant decrease in the amount of abuse she takes. I love her and want her to last a very long time.

I know many states disapprove of texting while driving, but I wonder if there is a specific statue prohibiting taking pictures while driving? Thank goodness the hubs wasn't in the car because he would have definitely disapproved. Then again, if he was in the car there would have been a 50/50 chance that he would have been driving and thus it wouldn't have been a distraction for me to take a picture of such a momentous milestone.

Oh you think you're so sneaky!

The hubs left me for a eight days for a silly work trip to Fort Bragg, North Carolina. He came home last night and there was something slightly different about him.

I see that facial hair Mister! Just because it's not a full beard doesn't mean it's sticking around! Don't think you can leave for a week and then do something drastic. I mean, I didn't chop 12 inches off of my hair when you went to Vegas for a week. Oh wait, I did do that. Touché!

Please forgive the somewhat vacant expression shown by the hubs. In his defense I did whip out my camera at 7:09am when we were sitting at the train station. I've got to give it the hubs, I would need massive amounts of concealer or something to cover the bags under my eyes if I was as tired as he was at the time. Poor dude is crazy busy right now.

Ladies, do you have a say in your partner-in-crime's facial hair status???? Truth be told, I let the hubs do whatever he wants within reason. He did try to grow a beard the winter before we got married and I wasn't a fan. I did figure it's his head, but I do have some input because I'm the one who has to look at it (said in my most vapid voice.... ha!).

Do you Rue La La?

I admit, I'm definitely guilty of over indulging in internet shopping. Purses, shirts, jeans, scarves, bags, toothpaste, whatever... sometimes it's just easier to have things shipped to my house.

The one thing I don't normally order online- shoes. I have to try shoes on before I order them. It's a weird distinction, but I've had a few bad experiences with ordering shoes online.

Yet, I had a cool $50 credit to Rue La La that expired December 30th and I wasn't about to let $50 go to waste... so I bought a pair of these lovelies.

Yummy Calvin Klein pumps in a Bordeaux color. Yes, winos, my new shoes are wine colored. They're perfect.

Now, I know some of you fashionistas are looking at the stacked heel aspect and giving them the side-eye. I understand that, really, I do. I felt the exact same way.

That is until I spied the sole of these babies:

Yes, comfy. Again, giving them the side-eye. Don't worry, these pumps blow stilettos out of the water. When your day involves the potential of hopping between trains and subways, you need a cute and functional shoe.

These babies were on my doorstep last Friday and they made the start to my weekend that much better. Especially because I had to work late... on a FRIDAY!!!!

I've worn them to work twice this week and I must say, they're more comfy than my Cole Haan shoes. The very best part, because of my Rue La La credit these shoes only cost me $9.

Yes, $9.

Which is also the same price the hubs and I spent at Starbucks last weekend. Guess which thing is still around a week later and will still be around in a year or two. Certainly, not the coffee!!!

If you want to join Rue La La (a cool boutique where members enjoy premier-brand private sales), because membership is FREE, then click here. You need an invite and I'm more than happy to share the yummy goodness of cute shoes, bags, and clothes.

For my fellow chart lovers

I'm quickly gaining a reputation for being a visual person at work. It may or may not have something to do with a huge chart I whipped together to explain a file structure. Or, people coming to me to make up charts and graphs to include in their reports.

Thankfully, my boss is a chart guy and he sent me this today just for a laugh.

Oh, Trader Joe's... how do I love thee?

Let me count the ways.

My top five "can't go to Trader Joe's and not pick up these" items.

(in no particular order, because really I can't rank these lovelies)

"In Defense of Food" scared the living daylights out of me and made me want to become a vegetarian and grow all of my own food. Yeah, that didn't happen. I'm a girl that loves meat, so now whenever I go to TJ's I make sure to buy some wonderful choice cuts of meat. The good stuff, not the yucky stuff in my normal grocery store. If I'm going to eat steak, well then I want to eat the good stuff.

Best.salsa.ever. This salsa makes crappy nachos taste good. I think that sums it up quite nicely.

Confession- I normally eat some type of ice cream 4 times a week. It's a bad, bad, bad habit, but it tastes so darn good. These little ice cream sandwiches are the perfect after dinner snack. They're much better than half a carton of Ben & Jerry's (not like I've done that before!).

Okay, I buy these every single time and I'm lucky to snag three or four Dunkers. The hubs hordes them and actually gets quite testy if I dare to eat too many of him. But, they're worth the risk!!! There is a non-chocolate covered variety as well, but let's be honest- I'm all about the chocolate.

Okay, I'm guilty of buying two of these bags at a time. One for me and one to trick the hubs into thinking I haven't eaten the entire bag in two days. True story. These things are better than any chocolate pretzels I've ever had before.

I could have continued this list easily to my top 10, 15, 20, 25, etc. items. The Pesto Pizza in my freezer is giving me evil looks. It's okay, I'll eat it for lunch this weekend and we'll be

How about you? Anyone else a Trader Joe's addict and care to share some of your favorite items?

Changing my stance on flowers

I told the hubs nearly eight years ago that I wasn't a fan of cut flowers. My rational, "I'm not really a fan of something that's dying."

I think it's safe to say that I can't be upset with the hubs that in nearly eight years he's only given me flowers twice. Really, if anything the hubs is a fantastic listener.

But, how could I be upset coming home to something this pretty:

Every single time I go into Trader Joe's I come home with flowers. I don't need the hubs to buy me flowers, but I certainly wouldn't mind if he did. Hopefully,he'll get the subtle message that I've changed my stance on cut flowers.

Ewww, a five day work week!

Gross! That hasn't happened since before Christmas! Thank goodness there's another three-day weekend in January.

I know Jewels, I don't want to go back to work either.
