Is it spring yet?

This weekend was one of those weekends where the weather wanted you to run to a warmer and less wet climate. Our backyard looked more like a swimming pool instead of a grassy lawn.

Sigh... the only signs of life are the flowers on my side table.

I did manage to sneak in a six mile run during one of the few "dry" periods of the weekend.

Whenever a boy comes over, you should always have something baking

Thankfully, I'm a slightly better baker than Cher! No burnt rolled up cookie dough in our house!

The hubs came home this weekend after a two week business trip to Fort Polk, LA. Yay, you're jealous, I know. Have no fear, the only souvenir he brought me was a 50 caliber shell he "found" laying on the side of the road. Such a romantic guy I have.

Anyway, in keeping with my baking trend I decided to whip up Pumpkin Cupcakes for his return. I was at Trader Joe's and their canned pumpkins were just calling to me! Like a dutiful wife, I baked fresh cupcakes, drove to the airport, picked up coffee, and circled the joint until the hubs and his brother had made it through baggage claim.

Oh yeah, I don't know if I've ever mentioned this before, but my brother-in-law works with my hubs. Actually, let me clarify that a bit. The hubs is my brother-in-law's supervisor. So yes, the hubs has power over his "big brother" at work. It's not a situation I would openly recommend to others. It's certainly provided a few awkward moments over the past 22 months.

The recipe is courtesy of the lovely Martha Stewart. Head on over here if you want to give them a try.

ETA: Blogger is driving me crazy and won't let me add a picture!!! Grr.

Goodbye February!!!!

February 2010 will go down as one of the craziest months of my life (thus far!).

In a nutshell, I went to Denver, Fort Lauderdale, Newark (NJ), and Phoenix for work. Then, I had a birthday mixed in-between. The hubs was gone for two weeks on various trips. The Olympics consumed any free time I might have had. And, Baltimore received 2 record breaking snowfalls in the span of 10 days.

Craziness.
