Is it spring yet?

I love winter, as it's the perfect season for a pale person like myself. I love bundling up in cozy sweaters and wearing knit hats every possible second. I love hot chocolate and baking fresh muffins. I love skiing and snow ball fights. So it is with a great deal of difficulty that I have to admit I want it to be spring time.

I don't know if you heard, but Pantone declared Mimosa as the color of year. Thank goodness! I love yellow and now there are plenty of yellow accessories to choose from this year. Of course, my favorite color palette is black, white and yellow. You could say that I'm inspired by my dog:

Coach Parker Satchel. Okay, it isn't quite Mimosa, but it is definitely a playful shade of yellow. For a person who doesn't wear yellow well, such as myself, a bright yellow bag is a perfect way to get in on the trend without looking like a light bulb. The price tag, $458, is way out of my price range, but I can certainly dream. I could spend all of my birthday money on this one bag, but I'd rather buy a few items instead.

Kate Spade "Idiom" Thin Enamel Bangle. Even the name, "A Place in the Sun" is calling out to be worn during the spring and summer. There is even a bangle with polka dots if you like those better.

J. Crew Nicolette Strappy Heels. A list of yummy yellow accessories wouldn't be complete without something from J.Crew. Preppy and bright go hand and hand at J. Crew. These sandals are yellow without being too much yellow material. I think I could pull these off a lot easier than say a pair of bright yellow patent leather pumps.

CB2 Daisy Pillow. The poster child of Mimosa! I would have bought these pillows already, but I don't live anywhere near a CB2 store and I'd rather see them in person before purchasing them (oh, who am I kidding, I'll probably end up buying these!).

Pottery Barn Organic Embroidered Dot Duvet Cover & Sham. Yellow, check. Polka dots, check. Organic, check. Perfect for those who don't want a ton of yellow, but still want to brighten up their bedroom a tad.

Pottery Barn Lemon Toile Salad Plates. Cuteness overload! How could anyone criticize anything about your cooking with these adorable plates. Now, I know the hubs will object to these plates because we already have yellow plates. Grrrr!

Hunter "Original" Rain Boot. Now these babies are perfect for all that spring time rain! If you happen to have a vegetable or flower garden, well these would be perfect for working in your garden.

Any other yellow items that you've coveting?

Dear Pottery Barn

Just when my confidence in mass marketing was being questioned, thank you J.Crew, my trust was momentarily restored by this month's Pottery Barn catalog. This is how you sell overpriced home furnishings. J.Crew, please take note.

It's January and in my little world it also happens to be freezing cold outside. What does Pottery Barn do to ease my frustration? Oh, they happen to put the cutest bedding on their cover. It's such a happy yellow color that screams "spring is here!" and yet, at the same time it looks so warm and inviting that it's positive energy would be able to fend off any wind chill. Granted I am a sucker for anything yellow (my ultimate vision is to have a white office with tons of yellow accessories), but still I think this bedding could persuade those who are fans of other colors to jump on in and snuggle under the covers.

Pottery Barn also gets that it's still winter out. Hello, that's why they advertise on their cover that they are having a winter sale. A sale on things you might actually be able to use in January. Shocking, I know.

Take note J.Crew. This is how you sell stuff in January. You don't ignore spring and jump right into the summer details. You don't see Pottery Barn advertising their outdoor slumber chairs in January, do you? No, instead they ease their way into spring (the forgotten season it appears), while still reminding you that it is indeed still January.

The final point, the tag line, "A fresh start" kicks "It's always warm somewhere..." to curb. Game. Set. Match. Pottery Barn. Better luck next month J.Crew.

(Yes, I do realize I am over analyzing these things, but I had a freak out in the grocery store over the weekend. Little Christmas hadn't even come and the grocery store was already stocked full of Valentine's Day decorations. I about fainted.)

Pottery Barn Lust

Grrrr. I swear that I won't start thinking about Christmas decorations until Thanksgiving has come and gone. I really feel that Thanksgiving gets the shaft in terms of seasonal decor and attention. Poor, poor, Thanksgiving.

Oh well. Anyway, in a moment of weakness I clicked on the Holiday Decor & Gifts tab at Pottery Barn. Shoot, crap, sigh.... yeah I want it all. That of course is a problem because the hubs and I are planning to go up to NY for a full week for Christmas. That means we won't have a tree or anything with fresh pine needles.

Now, this Peace Canvas is $80. I would think one could DIY something similar for much less than $80, right??? I'll have to see what I can come up with.

Pottery Barn Lust

Pottery Barn... why do you do this to me? I'm pretty sure I'm not hosting Thanksgiving dinner this year, but if I am I need to have these plates. My mind is already racing with how I could complement these lovely salad plates with my own dishes- read, I need to buy new dishes.

Maybe, just maybe, I can score enough of these plates after the holidays for a fantastic price.

Pottery Barn Lust

I heart Pottery Barn. I would never think to put three different colored pillows on the same couch. At first glance I thought the red and green pillows worked because of the red wall and the green plant in the background. The yellow pillow threw me for a loop, but the couch doesn't look like a stoplight. I think what makes the couch work is the fantastic black and white pillow in the center.

I'm jealous about the coffee table as well. I have yet to be able to pull off the "randomly" placed books on the table look. Whenever I put a book on my coffee table it comes off as the "I-was-too-lazy-to-take-this-upstairs-to-my-bookcase" look.

I'm actually counting down the days until the new Pottery Barn store opens at my local mall. Somehow I don't see PB to be the type of store that will have a fantastic "grand opening" sale, but I can dream, right? Hopefully, I can pick up a few odds and ends. I can already see my husband cringing at the thought of me going into Pottery Barn by myself. He has no idea what he's in for.
