Real men wear heels.
I guess if you butch them up with a cigar and a lunchbox, then they look okay.
Here's a better angle to show off the height in these bad boys.
(Both images are from Dlistd.com. Don't judge me for my celebrity news addiction!!!)
I guess when you're Robert Downey Jr. and IMDB has you listed as 5'10" you have to come up with something to give yourself an added boost. RDJ doesn't need anything if you ask me, but I understand his desire to be taller. Especially since he's shooting scenes with the 5'9" Gwyneth Paltrow. Considering that Gwyneth is most likely repeating her killer heels selection that she wore in the first Iron Man. Seriously, was anyone else distracted when Gwyneth could somehow manage to run over a grated surface in 4" Christian Louboutin stilettos in Iron Man and not fall down? That was the real super power in that movie. Forget Tony Stark's cool gadgets, I want Gwyneth's super balancing abilities.
Is anyone a fan of man-heels? Is my hubs missing out on something here?

What will be on your mind during the Academy Awards?
Here's a few things that will be going through my mind:
Who will win?
- Will Heath Ledger become only the second posthumous Oscar winner? (FYI- I'm pulling for him)
- If Heath wins, who will accept the award on his behalf? Normally, if an Oscar winner isn't in attendance the presenter graciously accepts on the winner's behalf. At least that's the unofficial rule ever since Brando sent in a proxy and caused a storm. As with every rule there have been exceptions or it just could be no one was going to tell Jane Fonda what she could or couldn't do.
- Is this finally the year that Kate Winslet wins an Oscar? Now, if she does, will she be plagued by speculation that voters were really voting for her two phenomenal performances in both The Reader and Revolutionary Road ? Will she be able to say anything while accepting her Oscar or will she pull a Julia Roberts and tell the little musical conductor man to shove off?
- The "no one can ever predict this award category" is definitely best supporting actress. Since Kate isn't in this category, it's a wide open field. Could Marisa Tomei finally throw six feet of dirt over that urban legend that Jack Palance read the wrong name? Or will Penelope Cruz take the award? Maybe Viola Davis will go all Judi Dench and win for making the most out of her short screen time.
- Who would give the better acceptance speech: Mickey Rourke or Sean Penn? My mind is set that Rourke would give the speech of the night, but I'm not sure he'll win.
- Will The Curious Case of Benjamin Button finally win a major award or will it continue its 0-300 streak in major award categories?
- Which film is going to win best picture? There are so many different scenarios right now that I have no idea.
The Drama:
- Jennifer Aniston and Angelina Jolie are both expected to attend tonight's Oscars. Jen is presenting and Angelina is nominated. Now, for me this says something. Both women will step up their game in terms of red carpet fashion. Both of them can be boring and wear too much black. I expect both of them to come out with something drop dead gorgeous. I know this might be heresy in some circles, but I think Jen wins the arm candy category. Of course, if Brad Pitt shows up sans facial hair and looking half awake, well then he wins all by himself.
- Did Javier Bardem cancel his appearance (he cited work commitments) because he and Penelope Cruz are no longer dating (or are they still dating?)? Normally, I don't think that would be a big deal, but it could be very awkward considering she is nominated for best supporting actress and he would have been presenting that award. That could have made for a fun encounter on stage.
- Back to Angelina. Will she give death stares to whoever does win best actress? Maybe she's learned how to fake happy since she's lost out on so many awards this season. I really, really, really, really want/expect the camera operator to keep the camera on Angelina when Jen is on stage presenting. The vein on her forehead might pop! That would be a good time for Angelina to head to the ladies room.
- What will Hugh Jackman include in his hosting duties? The man can sing, dance and look attractive with facial hair (a trait that Brad Pitt knows is difficult to pull off). More importantly, will Jackman leave his shirt on for any of his screen time? Or will he just make fun of George Clooney the entire time because George wasn't named Sexiest Man Alive?
- Finally, what with the Fug Girls say about all the fashion? I can't wait for all their posts next week!!!

SATC
I must say, I felt the pace of the movie was much slower the second time I watched it. Maybe, it's because I knew what was going to happen and I just wanted the big parts (no pun intended) to show up already. It's a funny movie though, not very quotable due to some of the vulgar language, but funny. (okay, maybe the movie more quotable for others, but I'm not a fan of swearing)
The hubs laughs at almost anything Samantha says. She's by far his favorite character. I can share that over the internet, but not with any of our real life friends... because that would give it away that my hubs likes SATC. Now if I only could get him to love the movie "Love Actually" we'd be good to go.
Here's my plug for the movie. If you haven't seen it yet, rent it. Seriously, even if you never watched the series on television (I'm not sure that is possible with its syndication on at least two different channels) there is a quick sum up at the beginning of the movie to catch everyone up. Grab your gals, break open a few bottles of wine and let the laughter flow (possibly a few tears as well).
Get Carried away (okay, that was just too easy and too cheesy!!!!).

Can Richard Gere please get out of this movie?
One, Diane Lane will always be too good of an actress to pair up with Richard Gere. Anyone who watched "Unfaithful" can back me up on this fact. Yes, I understand he had a smaller role by design in "Unfaithful," but Diane Lane jumped off the screen with her role. Steamy sex scenes with Olivier Martinez may have aided in her commanding aurora, but the scene showing Diane on the way home, well that lure was all Diane.
Another issue with the "Nights" preview is a severe lacking of Christopher Meloni presence. Stabler, errr, I mean Christopher, needs to appear much more often in the preview. Really, I don't think it would be too much to ask for him to saunter around topless. There was a quick preview on NBC during hour 1,800 of Olympic coverage and Christopher didn't appear, even for a single second, in that preview. Seriously, how does such an injustice happen on NBC??? Poor advertising campaign all around. Movie trailer people, here's a tip- since 1999 NBC has had on its lineup a little show called "Law and Order: Special Victims Unit." Yeah, millions of people watch that show. The main reason most of those viewers turn in.... Christopher Meloni and Mariska Hargitay. If you want to have a trailer shown on NBC, then you might want to include one of NBC's biggest stars. It might help capture a few more potential viewers. Honestly, the only reason I may pay $9.75 to see "Nights" is to gaze upon Christopher Meloni.
Finally, I know Nicholas Sparks is an incredibly talented writer, but can the movie trailer for "Nights" not look like a mid-life version of "The Notebook"?????????????? My husband doesn't watch that much television, but the first thing he said when he saw the "Nights" preview was, "it looks like they made 'The Notebook' for our parents." Right.on.point.my.dear. I can already sense that the female romantic lead is going to be torn between two men. Her family will most likely want her to go with one man, but she'll go with the other guy instead. Yeah, if that isn't "The Notebook" or every other movie James Marsden has ever been cast in, then I don't know what it is.
I understand this movie begins its theatrical run on October 3rd, but there is plenty of time to include some of my suggestions. One, re-edit the movie so there is some chance of a surprise. Have Diane Lane end up with either James Franco or Christopher Meloni. I know, it's crazy, that there would actually be a movie about a married couple that struggles and yet somehow manages to stay together. Crazy, indeed. Next, there really needs to be a major romantic scene that includes Christopher Meloni, but does not include his shirt (honestly, the only reason I like the character Kathy in "SVU" is because there might just be the chance Stabler gets to express his romantic side). Finally, just take Richard Gere out of the movie. Introduce a gerbil or something and I'm sure he'll just magically drop off the face of the earth.
That's just my two cents or the two cents that may make the difference between shelling out $9.75 plus the cost of popcorn or not.

You go Jennifer Garner!
I was flipping through the channels the other day and realized that there was nothing to watch. I hate when that happens! My cable bill was $180 last month, surely there should be something entertaining on tv. Normally, I’d read a book, but I had just finished a book and despised it. It was one of those things where you go, “wow, I wish I could get all the time back I wasted on this thing.” So, low and behold I see that “The Kingdom” is on HBO. Sure, why not?
Honestly, the only reason I turned it on was for Jason Bateman. Any faith I had in Jamie Foxx was quickly lost after I attempted to watch “Miami Vice” a few months ago. Chris Cooper is a solid actor, but not someone I’ll watch a movie just because he’s involved.
Then, there’s Jennifer Garner, which is a hard story for me. I want to love her, I do. I love her personality, but I really don’t care for any of the movies she’s ever been in. I thought “13 going on 30” was the worst rip-off of “Big” and Tom Hanks should be on a short list of people that you don’t mess with. I know I’m in the minority here, but I never got into the television series “Alias.” But, I want to love Jennifer Garner. I’m lukewarm on Ben Affleck, but absolutely love Matt Damon. If Jennifer has any connection to Matt, then she’s cool in my book. Plus, she’s from West Virginia. That right there makes me want to love her, but then I keep having flashbacks of “Daredevil” and the love is lost.
So here’s an action movie with Jennifer Garner and Jason Bateman. Secretly, I’m hoping that Jennifer will kick the crap out of Jason in the movie. I wanted her to punch him in the face during “Juno” and I’m hoping that in this movie she’ll at least slap him or something. As much as I love Jason Bateman I must admit he was a total ass in "Juno" and he deserved a quick slap to the face.
Alright, if you ever cared to watch this movie you should probably stop reading right now!
Jennifer Garner is the traditional female FBI agent in this movie. The guys do most of the work and she’s just along for the ride. Well, in the big action sequence of the movie she gets the shaft and is left outside in the hallway. BOOM!!!! Jennifer starts entering rooms and basically blasts a few dudes away with her machine gun. Then, she gets into a hand-to-hand combat fight with a very large dude. At one point she even bites the guy in the head. Then, just to further show she’s a total bad-ass she stabs him in the very upper thigh region before killing him with a serious stab wound to the back of the head.
It’s because of this scene, I can now say with the utmost confidence, that I truly love Jennifer Garner. She is typecast as the chick in this movie. Then, sure enough at the end, she saves the day. She kills a bunch of bad dudes, rescues Jason Bateman, and figures out the old dude in the room is really the terrorist leader. She does all of this while having to keep her boobs under cover because Jeremy Piven is worried that the Saudi officers might be offended.
You go Jennifer Garner!!!
